On November 12 and 13 the St. Eustatius Public Library hostedthe exhibition of a young Haitian painter, sculpture, and digital artist residing in the Netherlands, Frederick Calmes. The exhibition consists of twelve artworks created for the family heritage project “Remember Statia: Tracing Our Origins” organized by the Bigi Bon foundation and the St. Eustatius Afrikan Burial Ground Alliance from April to October 2024.

AMSTERDAM — On Sunday October 13, Afrocentric media platform in the Netherlands, AFRO Magazine will launch a special print edition with articles by people from the Caribbean island of St. Eustatius, relating to the island’s slavery past. The event that will take place at the AFRO Magazine offices in the city of Weesp in North Holland, will also feature the unveiling of artwork created by artist Fre Calmes from the stories that are published in the magazine.

African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), has announced intentions to establish a $1 billion oil service financing facility in Guyana. This initiative aims to enhance local participation in the country’s fast growing oil industry, in alignment with the government’s local content policies. The Bank will deploy the $1 billion facility directly to qualifying corporate clients or through a factoring line via local banks, enabling them to finance invoices from local contractors. This announcement, in the spirit of deepening Afri-Caribbean partnership, was made by Prof. Benedict Oramah, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Afreximbank at the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo being held from, February 18 – 21.

NEW YORK, United States of America –Haiti has become the 12th Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member state to accede the partnership agreement between and among CARICOM countries and African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) .

ST. EUSTATIUS –The Golden Rock and Godet Afrikan burial sites in St. Eustatius, Dutch Caribbean, will be recognized by UNESCO as significant sites tied to the legacies of enslavement.
